Kayla writes young adult and historical fiction, and has a frustrating fascination with fantasies that gets in the way a lot. She is the author of the young adult novelette, The Life and Death of Terry Dodd. A lover of books and prairies, she lives with her five siblings and inspiring parents in the wilds of the Great Plains. Besides reading books and writing stories, she loves watching old movies and drinking tea in her basement room dubbed “Mole End.”
But that's just my author bio. I'm really just a homespun, tea-loving, messy writer of a girl, whose love of yarn and knitting is second only to writing. Oh, and my pirate name is Mad Mary Flint.
This place? It's really just a little corner where you'll find some little bits of beauty, book love, creativity, and God's grace as I see it unfold. But always -- a little comfort for your soul. And mine.
I am always writing and editing new stories, stories I haven't finished, stories I've just begun . . . Because really, I have never learned how to write just one story at a time. You can learn more about my books by clicking here.
I also do a thing where I mentor writers and encourage quiet people at The Quiet Writers' Desk.
WHY I WRITE
“I WRITE ENTIRELY TO FIND OUT WHAT I’M THINKING, WHAT I’M LOOKING AT, WHAT I SEE AND WHAT IT MEANS. WHAT I WANT AND WHAT I FEAR.”—JOAN DIDION
“IF THERE’S A BOOK THAT YOU WANT TO READ, BUT IT HASN’T BEEN WRITTEN YET, THEN YOU MUST WRITE IT.”—TONI MORRISON
I WRITE BECAUSE OF GOD'S UNENDING GRACE.
